North West Conference | Music Mark

8:45am to 3:30pm

Music practitioners are invited to the RNCM on 2nd September for the 2024 Music Mark North West Conference. The day will be a fantastic opportunity to catch up with colleagues and reflect on and develop your professional practice.

With sessions on equity and inclusion within Music education, explainers from exam boards, overviews of brilliant projects taking place across the region and much more, the day looks to expand your knowledge, enhance teaching techniques, and help you inspire students, as well as providing multiple chances to interact with fellow music educators and an exhibit featuring industry partners from across the nation.

You can expect sessions from;

  • Jazz North on Women in Jazz and Teaching Improvisation
  • Young Sounds UK on Identifying Musical Talent and Potential
  • Noteweavers
  • MISST on Rhythm, Note-Reading and Large Group Learning 
  • Open Orchestras on Setting up and running an accessible and inclusive music ensemble 
  • Charanga on Developing inclusive music practice 
  • Live Music Now on Autism and Music

And more, including a session on Vocal 1st Aid and 'ThinkTank' sessions on the Curriculum, Guitar, Woodwind, Brass, Vocals, Strings, Percussion and Drums and DJ'ing.

Keynote: Nate Holder

Following the publication of "If I Were A Racist: Exploring racism in music teaching", Nate will be joining us to discuss the book and the reasons for writing it, as well as giving further insights into inclusive music education and challenges faced. Nate will also be delivery a workshop entitled: 'Listen & Celebrate: KS2'

If you are a teacher/tutor from a lead music education organisation in the North West and your Hub or Music Service is paying a discounted rate for you to attend. This price is listed as 'free' below, but a charge will be made to your local service. RNCM Students should also use this ticket type for booking.
